Documentary and Narrative Storytelling
This course aims to encourage students to learn by doing, both theoretically and practically. It is designed to make students know about various types and the development of documentary in depth. Besides learning “how to film”, students are also able to consider the issues about “what to film” and “why.”
This course provides guidance for students to probe into the “actual” production from the aspect of documentary, inclusive of the filmmakers’ skills for discourse, attitudes, and their understanding and standpoints toward certain events. Therefore, after taking this course and the participation in the production of documentary, students are expected to depict their personal status as either a journalist or a filmmaker in the future.
