Professional Ethics of Communication
This course focus on the controversies in media ethics, especially the ever changing trends in mass communications, growing concerns about ethics, spectacular developments in the technology, and the media’s impact on personal privacy and many other issues come under scrutiny in the world. Those issues will discuss as followings: the media’s role in society, responsibility and distrust, impact of media, media and democracy, media in time of war, media in time of dissent, ethical and legal challenge, pornography and violence, invasion of privacy, ethics in media ownership, ethics in public relationship, minorities in the media, etc. Besides, to think precisely: are the media too powerful, arrogant to the rights and feelings of individuals, as critics contend? Finally, to collect all the possible answers to achieve a good balance.
