The Western History of Communication
There are three faces which consisted of the Western modern hegemony and civilization. Firstly, it began with Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the All Saints’ Church in Wittenberg on October 31, 1517. After the Reformation, the global colonization since 16th century shared by the European royal countries shape a new world map. Lastly, the advanced scientific invention and different type of media successfully conquered and controlled its territories.
Based on those three characters, 16 weeks lectures and teamwork would explore the lifetime of the tycoon in media industry, the Pulitzer photographers like Eddie Adams in his documentary: “An Unlikely Weapons”, study the Watergate issue by viewing “All the President’s Men”. And adding some classic movies like “Citizen Kane”, “Casablanca”, “Roman Holiday”, “Fur”, “Persepolis”, “The Killing Field”, “The Bridge of Madison County”, “The King’s Speech” to help students to understand the different taste of the good Old times.
